Item: EI-844 4 European Blue Bakelite Buttons with Tulips (also available in Brown) These came for the shop that was liquidating their stock after 45 years in business. This lot is a group of 4 dark blue European Bakelite buttons which have a raised tulip design (I have lightened the color on the single close-up to show the detail). According to the box these were made in Holland. They measure 1 1/4 in. in diameter. They are in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. These also come in BROWN.

Here are fabulous and I believe RARE translucent swirl turquoise colored bakelite cone shaped buttons on an Ultra Kraft Card. This is a very hard to find color and shape. They are chunky and 3 dimensional. The cone buttons measure 5/8" across and has two sew holes on a self shank. Excellent condition.

Item: EI-2110 Bakelite era Plaster of Paris CHERRIES BUTTON Fresh from a collection of 5 generations comes this nice vintage and unusual hard to find Plaster of Paris figural button of a bunch of cherries. These buttons were made in the 40s out of this material because of the hard to find metals which were used for the war effort. Metal loop shank. Measures approx. 1 1/2 in.Excellent condition with no chips, but minute bit of rust on the loop shank (can be cleaned off). See other buttons from the same collection.

Item: EI-2113 Huge Molded Composition SCOTTY DOG BUTTON Fresh from a collection of 5 generations comes this nice, vintage and huge Scotty dog button. I am not sure of the exact material, but it dates to the 1930™s-40s during the time of the popular Scotty dog theme. It is very detailed. I believe it was originally a coat button. Measures 2 in. in diameter and has a metal loop shank. Excellent condition with some surface loss of the over-dye that was used to color it (see picture). See other buttons from the same collection.

Item: EI-1611 Rare!! BAKELITE SEAL BUTTON ( trans. red) Here is a very unusual Bakelite button of a seal. I have never seen one of these before. He is a translucent cherry red color. He has a little carving to show detail. A work of art in miniature. Tested positive for Bakelite using the hot water test. Measures 1/4 in. thick x approx 3/4 in. long x 5/8 in. tall including the metal loop shank. Excellent condition.

Realistic Celluloid & Metal Strawberry Button Unusual combination of materials make up this button. The fruit button appears to me to be a strawberry where the pink part is either celluloid or Bakelite (it is resin washed, so I did not test it with Simi-chrome for fear it would remove the over wash). The stem and leaves are green & brown enameled metal. It measures 1 in. Metal loop shank. Excellent condition. A great luscious chunky fruit button to add to you collection.

During this store’s time in business it acquired many other businesses that were liquidating their stock...so what was available was a wide variety of vintage buttons from all over. I spent many hours, after store hours, going through thousands of buttons and hand picked an assorted grouping of beautiful buttons. Please see others that came from the same find. Here is a fantastic set of 6 cookie buttons Mint on Card There are 6 different colors on this card where the cookie is a flower or 4 leaf clover shape. The outer rings are butterscotch, orange, 1 that looks black, (but I believe is really blue or purple when you hold it up to the light), green, yellow and caramel. All of the centers are cream corn with one being slightly darker than the others. 3/8" in diameter. Excellent condition. Quite an unusual selection...don?ft miss these!

He is a beautiful marbled translucent olive green and where he is carved, he is painted a dark magenta pink. A work of art in miniature. Tested positive for Bakelite using the hot water test. $ 55.00 Item: EI-3309 Vintage Figural Hawaiian TIKI MASK BAKELITE BUTTON Rare Color! This is a cool vintage figural Tiki Mask Bakelite Button. At first look it appears brownish, however, I have been dealing with Bakelite for about 12 years now and when I see this shade of brown, I know that it was quite possibly originally a purple that has turned this color due to age and light exposure. So, I held it to the light and it has the appearance of a red along the edges and really looks more maroon or reddish brown. So I believe that in its newness, it was originally purple. It is a fabulous button having a carved face for detail. He measures 1 1/4 in. tall x 7/8 wide x 5/16 in. thick. Condition is excellent. Very unusual button in this color. Don?ft miss out if this is your thing!
